Christopher Street Financial is a proud sponsor of this annual celebration where men sing songs originally written for women and vice versa. In doing so, gay and lesbian stories are told through the great songs of musical theatre and sung by your favorite Broadway performers. This year's virtual edition will explore how the isolation of the COVID-19 pandemic has specifically affected the LGBTQ+ community.
Broadway Backwards benefits Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS and The Center.
Christopher Street Financial will be matching, dollar-for-dollar, all donations made through our fundraising page, up to $5,000.
This year's streaming event will feature Jay Armstrong Johnson as an isolated New Yorker who dreams a fantastical journey guided by a late night television host, portrayed by Jenn Colella. New performances will be merged with full numbers from previous editions of Broadway Backwards to create a Broadway Backwards that feels distinctly of the moment. Other guests lined up to perform include Stephanie J. Block, Deborah Cox, Lea Salonga, Matt Bomer, Darren Criss, Cherry Jones, Jim Parsons, and Kelli O'Hara.
No registration is necessary for you to view the event. You will be able to stream the event at this link, beginning Tuesday, March 30th at 8:00 PM.
